Demons
The ancient Egyptians used magic to guard against the possible threat of demons and other malevolent forces, such as evil spirits, ghosts and hostile manifestations of deities. Demons believed to be able to cause a variety of problems, especially illness. It has already been noted that the ancient Egyptians did not regard magic and medicine as distinct entities, but as very much interrelated(see medicine). Demons were particularly associated with the goddess Sekhmet, who was regarded as the bringer of plague and other serious illness. In fact, there was a class of demon known as the Messengers of Sekhmet . sekhmet was also associated with fire nd heat, so a fever might be blamed on her demons. Headaches and stomach problems were often said to be caused by demons contaminating the ill person,s body, and so an emetic might be prescribed in an attempt to rid the person of the demon.
